DCS Corporation to Support the Fourth Annual D. Brown Memorial Golf Tournament

RIDGECREST, Calif., Aug. 20, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- DCS Corporation is proud to announce that it will sponsor a team for the 4th Annual D. Brown Memorial Golf Tournament in Ridgecrest, CA.  This is the second year that DCS has participated in this tournament, an American Cancer Society Event held in honor of Derek Brown, a local man who died from cancer in 2012 at the age of 38.  The tournament will be held August 25 at the China Lake Golf Course.

DCS Corporation Ridgecrest, CA Team

Derek was an avid golfer, athlete and good friend who always gave back to the community. His lifelong friends, all of whom grew up in Ridgecrest, founded the tournament in his honor. Together with the American Cancer Society, these friends host the annual tournament to raise funds to assist others in the local community who are fighting cancer.

To keep Derek's legacy alive, the founders will continue to keep the focus of this golf tournament centered on how he lived his life including his commitment to friends, family, and community. They will honor Derek's commitment to investing in local youth by providing scholarship opportunities to continue their education.

Last year, the tournament raised $17,000 to support these two focus areas.  Funds were distributed to the American Cancer Society and a Burroughs High School scholarship fund.  The 2018 D. Brown Memorial Scholarship was awarded to graduating student-athletes Tristen Foisy and Grant Vigneault

Tournament organizers plan to continue awarding this scholarship to graduating student-athletes as long as possible.  The scholarship is designed to provide funds to the students while they attend college as long as they continue to show success in their academic careers.

Tournament participants will enjoy a variety of competitions in addition to the 18 holes of golf tournament play. Activities will include a Four Man Scramble, Hole in One Contest, Long Drive Contest, Gift Prizes, and an Opportunity Drawing.

DCS is participating in the D. Brown Memorial Golf Tournament as part of its ongoing commitment to the Ridgecrest community. DCS also participates as a sponsor in the Ridgecrest Relay for Life, the Advanced Weapons Lab F/-A-18 Golf Tournament and the National Contract Management Association Golf Tournament which provides scholarships to local students.
