Daniel Tu joins autonomous_ID

OTTAWA, Aug. 19, 2018 /PRNewswire/ - Daniel Tu, former group chief innovation officer of Ping An Insurance (Group) Company of China Ltd, has joined the Ottawa-based technology group autonomous_ID as executive advisor to the chairman, Todd Gray.

Daniel Tu joins autonomous_ID (CNW Group/autonomous_ID)

Mr. Tu drove rapid growth through innovation and technology at Ping An, China's largest insurance company.  He forged strategic partnerships, identified new business opportunities, oversaw relationships with key global research institutions, and supervised PA Ventures, Ping An's venture-capital arm.  In addition, he co-led Ping An's artificial-intelligence and blockchain initiatives.

As executive advisor, he will focus on the company's partnerships across the global Internet-of-Things ecosystem, including mobile health and wellness, insurance, connected living and the utility of data.

"I've had long runs as a senior executive and CEO leading companies over my career," says Tu.  "I think that autonomous_ID has a technology platform that is perfectly timed and will truly transform how 'the me' interacts with connected things.  What excites me even more is that Todd has assembled an incredibly talented team with impeccable technical and business pedigree under one roof.  They have shown outstanding progress with transformational technology in biometrics ID, sensors and autonomous systems."

"By setting the gold standard for identity, privacy and data security, ecosystem partners in insurance, for example, will see risk personalized in such a way that fosters product innovations to support continuous underwriting and dynamic pricing in a digital world," Tu added.

Said chairman and CEO Todd Gray: "Daniel is a demonstrated innovator and has enjoyed a long and distinguished career in building and advising companies in media, sports, technology and financial services.  He provides invaluable hands-on experience as we push to scale the platform and cloud infrastructure into customer programs in Canada, US, Japan and China".

"I am genuinely honored that Daniel has chosen to come out of retirement for a second time to work with autonomous_ID to reach its fullest potential", Gray added.

Prior to Ping An, Daniel led a listed financial services company with over 4,000 employees and a combined annual revenue of $5 billion.
