City of Montreal officially approves the first ever Public Consultation on Systemic Racism and discrimination

MONTREAL, Aug. 17, 2018 /CNW Telbec/ - Today, the city of Montreal has officially approved Montreal in Action's citizen-led petition for a Public Consultation on Systemic Racism and Discrimination Upon depositing the 20 000 signatures at City Hall on July 27, the city had twenty one days to verify the signatures and the count to ensure at least 15 000 were valid.

"With the collaboration of community groups and young leaders from across the city, we were confident we had collected enough signatures to meet the city requirement." said Balarama Holness, from Montreal in Action. "The real work begins now. This public consultation's success and impact depends on the collaboration of organizations, leaders, academics and citizens from across the city. We need your support and your contributions."

Montreal in Action and partners will announce the City's decision regarding the admissibility of the petition on Friday, August 17, 2018 at 11.00 am at City Hall (275 Notre Dame East, Gosford entrance).
