Government of Canada awards contract for acquisition of fence boom packages


GATINEAU, QC, Aug. 16, 2018 /CNW/ - Under the Oceans Protection Plan, the Government of Canada is committed to providing the Canadian Coast Guard with the equipment it needs to respond to environmental spills in a timely and effective manner.

Following an open, competitive process, Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC), on behalf of the Canadian Coast Guard, has awarded a $485,381 (including taxes) contract to Canadyne Technologies Inc., from Richmond, British Columbia, for the acquisition of fence booms and associated services and products, including related accessory packages, boom reels, hydraulic power units and storage containers.  A fence boom is a temporary flotation barrier used to contain pollution spills in marine waters.

The contract is valid until December 31, 2020, with options to extend the term of the contract by up to five additional one-year periods, and with a total value of up to approximately $14 million.

The initial contract will create up to 10 new jobs, while maintaining 20 existing jobs.
