Warren Bicycle Works Launches New Bike Basket System to Simplify Cargo Bikes

COSTA MESA, Calif., Aug. 2, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Warren Bicycle Works (https://warrenbike.com), a new innovator in the bicycle industry, announces the release of Smart Baskettm. This new front basket system carries more cargo without affecting the bicycle's steering balance, creating a safer and more stable ride. The key to the design is the century-old concept of attaching the basket to the bicycle's frame. It essentially converts a beach cruiser into a cycle truck.

The Smart Baskettm system is retrofit directly on the frame of the bike, rather than the handlebars or fork, completely changing the way in which the weight is carried. "This new design lets you carry heavier loads than a traditional basket and still allows for easy steering. It's safer, stronger, and much more stable," says Warren Bicycle Works founder, Jim Warren.

Whether carrying two 12-packs, a 50-pound dog, or a backpack full of books, the Smart Baskettm ride is smooth and stable. This stability makes it safer to carry things on a bicycle. In addition, the retrofit system combined with a basic bike results in a lower-cost cargo bike.

Smart Baskettm comes in a variety of colors and attractive styles. Riders can choose from custom wood crates and powder-coated wire baskets, both of which feature WBW's unique "wave" design, as well as one-of-a-kind vintage crates and up-cycled wine crates. All the baskets and crates are large capacity, with a minimum size of 14 inches by 12 inches at the base ? large enough to fit two paper grocery bags.

Current models fit most beach cruiser bikes and traditional casual bikes. Compatibility information is available on the website.

"I've always enjoyed both the fun and function of bikes, and I'd been using my old clunker to get around the neighborhood," says Warren. "I wanted to ride more places ? to the store and the beach ? but carrying stuff was a hassle. I thought, 'I'm a mechanical engineer; figure it out!' " After two years of design, testing, and tweaking, Smart Baskettm is the answer. Warren adds, almost surprised, "It looks good, too! It's the best front cargo bike basket on the market."

Warren Bicycle Works designs and manufactures common-sense accessories that increase the everyday functionality of bicycles. The WBW mission is to create products and spread ideas that make casual cycling simpler, more useful, and more fun. WBW products are built to last and are made in the USA.
