Orange Mud's Josh Sprague Talks Hydration, Inspiration, and Business

CASTLE ROCK, Colo., August 2, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Josh Sprague, Founder and CEO of Orange Mud, an athletic goods company which creates hydration products for high-intensity athletes, recently sat down with SGB Media to discuss his company's past, present, and future.

A born athlete, Sprague founded Orange Mud on a simple philosophy. His goal was to create better, more efficient gear to help athletes like him stay hydrated while on the trail - and to do so without having to slow down. To that end, he designed and released the company's first product, the Hydra-Quiver, in 2012.

Since then, the company has greatly broadened its product line, with Sprague designing new equipment for a wide range of different activities.

"When we founded this business, it was all about the run," Sprague told SGB. "I had this cool brand that was making all this cool stuff for running - which I love - but I really love mountain biking. So, two years ago we launched our first bladder pack for bike and run and, I believe, we made what is perfect for both sports. Neither one is sacrificed as a result of the other and that was really the start of diversification."

Sprague also discussed in-depth his thoughts on the hydration market, both in regards to oversaturation and in terms of what his company plans to do to differentiate itself. The interview then moved forward to examine at the manufacturing and design process behind Orange Mud's products, including the reasoning behind the company's reliance on local manufacturers.
