New Chair for the Board of Trustees at The Brooklyn Hospital Center


BROOKLYN, N.Y., July 18, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Nurse, attorney and local Brooklynite, Lizanne Fontaine, was recently named Chair of the Board of Trustees of The Brooklyn Hospital Center (TBHC), the oldest hospital in the borough and the only hospital located in Downtown Brooklyn. She is the first nurse in the hospital's history to serve in this position.

"I am committed to Brooklyn after years of living, working and raising a family here," says Ms. Fontaine. "I have seen firsthand how a strong hospital makes a stronger community. Recently, for instance, the hospital received the highest Leapfrog Group safety grade in all of Brooklyn. For patients who have already been coming here for years, we want them to feel confident and take pride in this hospital and how we are changing."

Ms. Fontaine, who served as a Board Trustee since 2002, is warmly welcomed by the hospital administration and clinical staff. "We are so pleased to continue our wonderful relationship with Lizanne," says Gary G. Terrinoni, TBHC President and CEO. "She is uniquely qualified to lead us as we continue our mission of Keeping Brooklyn Healthy."

Ms. Fontaine is Counsel to VIP Community Services, Inc. in the Bronx, which is an opioid addiction treatment agency. She has a long resume of providing legal and nursing services for community health centers and programs.

She graduated with her law degree from New York University School of Law, and a BSN (magna cum laude) from New York University School of Education.
