Commission for Case Manager Certification's new board focuses on developing others to address the urgent need for professional case managers and disability specialists

MOUNT LAUREL, N.J., July 18, 2018 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Commission for Case Manager Certification announced its 2018-2019 slate of officers to support the work of the nationally accredited Commission, which oversees certification, provides ethical guidelines and encourages professional growth and continuous development for more than 45,000 case managers and 2,600 disability management specialists nationwide.

Jeannie LeDoux, RN, BSN, MBA, CCM, CPHQ, CTT+, will serve as chair of the 16-member volunteer board. LeDoux, a registered nurse with a health care-focused master's degree in business, is a senior clinical educator for MCG Health. She has extensive experience in military health care, and was part of the effort to create, deliver and operationalize the case management program for the Army for soldiers working in European, African and Middle Eastern theaters. She has significant experience working with diverse cultures?sometimes in countries where there were limited or no resources?and with assisting clients with complex needs.

LeDoux is joined in leadership by commissioners representing a range of professional backgrounds?social work, nursing, psychology, disability management and rehabilitation. The Commission personifies the cross-discipline and cross-setting nature of the oldest, largest certification for professional case managers, who work in health care?hospitals, health plans and long-term care?as well as in disability and workers' compensation organizations.

"Changes in the population and the care delivery system require agile, well-prepared, knowledgeable case managers," says LeDoux. "The Commission is the touchstone for professional case managers to tap into resources they need, to stay on top of trends and to advocate for clients across the health care continuum."

The new officers and commissioners recognize the imperative for case manager and disability management specialist professional development to build a prepared and ready workforce through certification and lifelong learning. Both Certified Case Manager® (CCM®) and Certified Disability Management Specialist® (CDMS®) credentials are recognized as a validation of knowledge and ethical practice and ensure ongoing professional readiness.

"This board brings decades of experience and wide-ranging expertise to the Commission's leadership as we seek to develop a diverse workforce to meet the needs of a diverse population," says MaryBeth Kurland, CAE, Commission CEO. "The coming year will require focus and commitment to our research-based exam development to ensure that it reflects current practice, as well as continued expansion of the learning tools and resources that support our commitment to advancement and evolution of case management and disability management."

In addition to LeDoux, the Commission's 2018/2019 officers are
