Bilingual in both English and Spanish, throughout her career Kane has obtained extensive expertise in the areas: US GAAP accounting for income taxes; Tax provision process and analytics; U.S. taxation of non-U.S. operations; Non-U.S. taxes; Tax risk management; Uncertain tax positions/FIN 48; Foreign currency; and Training. Marcela Kane has been acknowledged for being hands on leader able to keep global cross-functional teams focus.

A proven leader with a track record of developing and implementing solutions that meet company goals, Kane is responsible for the oversight of all aspects of tax accounting including ownership of worldwide FIN 18 process, SEC reporting, consolidations and ACS 740 technical accounting.

While pursuing her educational endeavors, Kane attained her Master of Laws (LLM) from the University of Houston. Kane obtained her LLM & Juris Doctor in Colombia from the Universidad del Rosario.

To further enhance her professional development, Kane is a distinguished fellow of several elite organizations including the International Association of Women.

Charitable to various organizations, Kane is currently involved with and passionate about organizations with regards to children and cancer. She is a recipient of the 2018-2019 "Influencer of the Year" by the International Association of Women (IAW) for her commitment to mentoring women at the workplace.

Kane dedicates this recognition to her mother, Ximena Villar, one of Colombia's first women business owners, to her husband Todd and her son Sean. Marcela also recognizes her mentor, Professor Ira Shepard, Esq. of University of Houston Law Center. He passed away March 2016.
