Fressko announces its support of anti-plastic campaigns to eliminate plastic straws, utensils and stirrers

BOCA RATON, Fla., July 16, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Fressko, makers of the insulated and BPA-free bamboo, glass and stainless steel bottles aims to reduce its carbon footprint by being kind to Mother Earth and supporting the anti-plastic movement, including campaigns to eliminate single use plastic items such as straws, utensils and stirrers that cause environmental damage due to lack of degradability.

Fressko's flasks, designed in Melbourne are a great alternative to plastic, rubber and paper take-away cups and made using only BPA-free materials. The bamboo is sourced from the mountains of Ningbo, China, and the double-walled glass is formed from one piece, built to stand the test of time.

The Australian company, made by Fressko, joins other companies in its sustainability-driven efforts, including food service company Bon Appétit, which recently banned plastic straws in its 1,000 cafés across 33 states. Fressko produces simple, sleek, reusable flasks that can act as an upgrade from throwaway plastic, rubber and paper cups, and do not rely on straws.

"Unlike plastic straws, Fressko flasks are durable and made for long-term use," Hayley Culley, Marketing Director at Fressko, said. "Plastic straws are quick to tear and become useless. Straws rarely receive more than 20 minutes of use before being discarded. Meanwhile our glass and bamboo flasks last for decades. They are made entirely from BPA Free materials, sourced responsibly."

"At Fressko, we're all about keeping things simple and sustainable," adds Culley, "We care about the planet around us and are committed to giving our customers the highest quality, carefully designed products that make it easy to live healthy and consciously."

The anti-plastic and last straw movements have grown rapidly throughout the world. Companies like Alaska Airways and institutions like the University of Portland and Knox College have shown support of anti-plastic movements by banning plastic straws. New York City Council, Rafael L. Espinal Jr., introduced bills which would prevent restaurants in all five of the city's boroughs from providing plastic straws to consumers, and prevent park and beach vendors from selling beverages in plastic bottles.

Plastic is non-degradable, and with only eight percent of it recycled, Americans alone produce more than 30 million tons of plastic waste. Exposure to plastic can lead to severe illnesses like cancer, birth defects, impaired immunity, endocrine disruption, etc.

The company's initial U.S. launch includes three glass and one bamboo flask. The Rise (10-ounce), Tour (13-ounce) and Lift (16-ounce) flasks are glass, and include a two-in-one filter, allowing for complete versatility. Use it to turn the flask into a tea infuser, for smoothies or to create delicious, fruit-infused water.

The Rush (10-ounce) flask is made from premium stainless steel surrounded by a bamboo shell and includes a single filter, perfect for carrying coffee on the go. This flask will keep coffee or any warm beverage or soup hot typically for 6-8 hours.

"Say goodbye to single use, throwaway plastics and say hello to the Fressko range of versatile, reusable and stylish flasks suitable for both hot and cold beverages," Culley said.
