Cosmedix Launches Acne Awareness Campaign After Survey Reveals 50% Of Adults Struggle With Frequent Breakouts

ATLANTA, June 25, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- COSMEDIX, a professional skincare line, recently took to social media to survey men and women between the ages 18-55 on one of the most common skincare concerns?acne. The survey, which revealed that 50% of adults have been struggling with constant breakouts for over four years, launched COSMEDIX's month-long campaign to educate customers and provide insight on effective acne-fighting skincare solutions. Of those individuals surveyed, 50% admitted to having tried more than five acne treatments, while an astonishing 19% have tried more than fifteen treatments to find the perfect acne-fighting product. This June, COSMEDIX is celebrating Acne Awareness Month by informing customers how to tame active blemishes and achieve a clearer-looking complexion without added irritation or harsh ingredients.

"Acne can affect up to 95% of teens, but as our survey indicates, it remains a top global skin concern for people of all ages and they're struggling to treat this condition with long-term success," said Ryan Christopher, Global Education Director at COSMEDIX. "This campaign shows that while treating acne and blemish-prone skin can be challenging, it's possible with the combination of professional facials, consistent usage of appropriate topical products and healthy lifestyle choices."

The survey, which captured the responses of 74 individuals across the U.S., revealed that 30% of adults with acne have used a sick or personal day to avoid going to work with a breakout. The COSMEDIX Break Up with Breakouts campaign helps those suffering from acne promote a healthy change in the skin with gentle, yet effective product formulas that can reduce the skin condition's impact on their daily lives. The brand's complex formulations include proprietary blends of soothing botanical ingredients coupled with clinical actives, such as encapsulated Retinol, that enables a time-released delivery system for non-irritating, visible results.

"For the longest, it was commonly believed that only harsh ingredients, like benzoyl peroxide, could treat acne. While these ingredients can be effective, they can also cause side effects such as irritation and rebound acne. At COSMEDIX, our professional skincare line debunks that myth by marrying clinical level actives with super clean, botanical ingredients for products that meet the needs of our blemish-prone customer," said Christopher. "As an education-first company, it's our goal to shed light on lifestyle habits and skin care mistakes that may be causing persistent breakouts. Our survey findings were really helpful in building this campaign."

Education has been a priority for COSMEDIX since the brand's inception which is why this campaign consists of a series of educational social posts, related blogs and infographics that provide a full range of tips that are quick and easy to implement. For instance, less than 30% of respondents were familiar with professional acne-fighting ingredients, such as salicylic acid, tea tree oil, retinol and sulfur, which is why the brand encourages visiting a skincare professional to build a personalized routine for proper at-home care. COSMEDIX also recommends home care is paired with professional care, so the brand offers various peels, treatments, facials and a spa-exclusive Elite line designed to boost skin-changing results.

"Whether it's at-home care or spa treatments, we commit to clean skincare because we understand just how big of a role skin health plays in our daily lives," said Christopher. "We learned that of the 50% of adults that have been struggling with acne for more than four years, 50% have never seen a professional to help treat their acne. This is a crucial step in finding exactly what works for you, so we always encourage customers to frequent a local aesthetician or dermatologist."
