ValvTechnologies to Co-present at INUOG Annual Meeting

HOUSTON, June 6, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- ValvTechnologies, Inc., the global leader in the design and manufacturing of zero-leakage high-performance isolation valve solutions, is proud to announce its Nuclear Industry Director, Bill Henwood, will be a featured co-presenter at the 2018 International Nuclear Utilities Obsolescence Group (INUOG) Annual Meeting.

The two-day event focusing on obsolescence management takes place on June 26-27 at the International Atomic Energy Agency headquarters in Vienna, Austria. An assembly of international equipment reliability managers, procurement engineers and concerned industry leaders will share their expertise on key topics ranging from nuclear utility projects to the development of obsolescence programs and solutions implemented.

Henwood and Adrian Swift, Procurement Engineering Support at EDF UK, will co-lead a session focused on application obsolescence in nuclear power plants. They will present a case study focusing on the ongoing efforts at Sizewell B Nuclear Power Station to replace linear valve technology with quarter-turn isolation technology, equaling $1.4M (£/?) in valve purchases to date and culminating in the recovery of over $11M (£/?) in operating income for 2017 alone. (Projected to be $11M)

"Attendees will see that the payback for the replacement program is as little as eight weeks with a comparative minimal investment in quarter-turn isolation valves," said Henwood. "Members of the nuclear community will gain insight into how they can effectively implement a similar program resulting in megawatt recovery, vastly improved safety of plant personnel, the elimination of costly spare parts, valves, maintenance and warranty claims."
