The Government of Canada is proud to contribute to the celebration of the 100th anniversary of this hospital. This project is in keeping with our commitment to highlight the major moments in our history."

?The Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Canadian Heritage

"An institution such as the Hôtel-Dieu de Roberval deserves its reputation. It is one of Roberval's main employers, and its contribution to the community is undeniable. Celebrating its 100th anniversary means remembering all those years of work, upheaval, courage and the involvement of many people who have represented the institution over the years. I am proud to be here with you today for this important commemoration."

?Richard Hébert, Member of Parliament (Lac-Saint-Jean)

"The centennial of the Hôtel-Dieu de Roberval, celebrated over a six-month period, will offer many activities and a diverse program that will pay tribute to the men and women who have cared for our health since 1918. We are grateful for the contribution of our partners, including Canadian Heritage, which will allow us to celebrate properly the heritage of an institution like the Hôtel-Dieu."

?Réjean Perron, Chair of the Hôtel-Dieu de Roberval Centennial Organizing Committee

Quick Facts

The founding of the Hôtel-Dieu de Roberval dates back to May 24, 1918, with the arrival of six nursing sisters from the Hôtel-Dieu de Chicoutimi. The former Hôtel Commercial, located near majestic Lac Saint-Jean, was restructured and converted into a hospital.

The centennial celebration of the Hôtel-Dieu de Roberval includes a field day with a theatre troupe and buskers, an exhibition of historical objects and panels describing the history of the hospital, and a conference on the history of hospitals in Lac-Saint-Jean and the heritage of the community of Augustines.

Festivities for the 100th anniversary of the Hôtel-Dieu de Roberval will take place in Roberval from May 20 to October 31, 2018. The organization will have the support of 200 volunteers.
