(v)WeCare works with large mobile carriers, such as T-Mobile, AT&T, and Sprint. (v)WeCare's billing system processes the payments, rate, and online charging solutions for customers on the prepaid or pay-as-you-go plans. To keep service uninterrupted for customers, (v)WeCare's billing system, Telgoo5, needs to process transactions in under 250 milliseconds. The service level agreement with its carrier customers required (v)WeCare to turn to MemSQL for its speed.

"There are millions of customers that use prepaid mobile payment options daily," said Sandip (Sandy) Mehra, CEO of (v)WeCare. "We need to ensure those customers get the service they pay for as soon as possible. Using MemSQL allows us to make the payment transactions seem instantaneous to the customer so their mobile service continues uninterrupted."

Roughly 150 million transactions related to prepaid customer payment data is transmitted daily through (v)WeCare for approval. To handle that transaction volume, the company considered other database vendors, but chose MemSQL because it is SQL based, can run in memory, and can handle high volumes of data in sub-seconds. With MemSQL, (v)WeCare is able to complete transactions in less than 50 milliseconds in the majority of the cases.

"When instant updates or access to data is required, companies need a database built for real time," said Nikita Shamgunov, CEO and co-founder of MemSQL. "(v)WeCare has a telecommunications use case perfectly aligned to MemSQL capabilities, which means customers never experience disruptions in service."

MemSQL knows that new applications demand the processing and analyzing of data as soon as it is received. MemSQL uniquely accommodates this need by handling transactions and analytics together, while delivering results in real time.
