Canada's Largest Car Rental Company Celebrating 25 Years of Growth, Success

Enterprise Is Most Trusted Automobile Rental Brand

TORONTO, April 17, 2018 /CNW/ - Enterprise Holdings ? which owns the Enterprise Rent-A-Car, National Car Rental and Alamo Rent A Car brands ? is not only Canada's largest car rental company, but is also marking its 25th anniversary in the country this year.

Enterprise Is Most Trusted Automobile Rental Brand (CNW Group/Enterprise Holdings)

"The Enterprise story in Canada is one of growth," said Steven Tudela, Corporate Vice President of Canadian Operations for Enterprise Holdings.

"When we started out in Canada we faced some challenges, but our employees never compromised," Tudela noted. "That's why we've seen success in Canada for the past 25 years, and why we will continue to be leaders in the transportation industry, especially as new mobility technologies evolve."

Economic Impact & Technology

Enterprise Holdings currently operates Canada's largest rental fleet of vehicles through a network of over 750 airport and neighbourhood locations across the country. In addition, the company operates Enterprise Truck RentalEnterprise CarShare and the Exotic Car Collection by Enterprise divisions in Canada. Enterprise's affiliate, Enterprise Fleet Management, also provides full-service fleet management to companies, government agencies and organizations operating medium-sized fleets of 20 or more vehicles, as well as those seeking an alternative to employee reimbursement programs.

Last year, Enterprise Holdings contributed approximately $3 billion to the Canadian economy and purchased 4.3 percent of all new vehicles sold in Canada at the cost of $2.3 billion. With 5,400 employees in Canada, Enterprise has been recognized as one of The Best Places to Work in Canada by the popular job-finding site Indeed and is the only car rental company named one of the best employers in the Greater Toronto Area by Mediacorp Canada.

Earlier this year, the Canadian Standing Senate Committee on Transport and Communications published a report ? "Driving Change: Technology and the Future of the Automated Vehicle" ? at the request of the Minister of Transport. More than 78 witnesses, including Enterprise, provided testimony as the Committee focused on regulatory and technical issues related to the deployment of automated and connected vehicles.

The report featured 16 specific recommendations, including "monitoring the impact of automated and connected vehicle technology on competition between the various sectors of the automotive and mobility industries, in order to ensure that sectors such as the aftermarket and car rental companies continue to have access to the data they need to offer their services."

"Canada's Most Trusted Automobile Rental Brand"

Complete customer satisfaction is the principle that has guided Enterprise since it was founded, and it remains a fundamental Founding Value today. From the beginning, Enterprise has focused on providing customers with a level of service that keeps them coming back.

As a result, Enterprise takes great pride in the fact that Canadian consumers named Enterprise Rent-A-Car the most trusted automobile rental brand, according to the 2017 Gustavson Brand Trust Index. Further, the Enterprise, National and Alamo brands secured the top three spots in the annual J.D. Power 2017 North American Rental Car Satisfaction Study, which surveyed leisure and business travelers who rented vehicles at airports in the U.S. and Canada.

"Community engagement is another one of our core values," Tudela added. "That's why Enterprise, National and Alamo employees are empowered to support local charities of their choosing. The Enterprise Holdings Foundation ? the philanthropic arm of Enterprise Holdings ? and local Canadian employees collectively contributed more than $3.4 million in donations to Canadian charities in FY2017."

The Foundation also is directly funding the planting of 50 million trees throughout the U.S., Canada, France, Germany, Spain and the U.K. as part of the "Enterprise 50 Million Tree Pledge." Each project is individually selected to prioritize immediate reforestation needs and to help restore ecosystems after wildfires or other natural disasters strike. This summer, 30,000 trees will be planted in Saskatchewan and the Greater Toronto area, marking the program's 13th year in Canada ? and bringing the total to more than 900,000 trees planted in Canada through the program.

Additionally, the Foundation's global philanthropic initiatives help to lead a number of efforts to give back to local communities throughout Canada. This includes "Fill Your Tank," a $60-million commitment to fight food insecurity around the globe. The Foundation is donating $1.5 million per year for six years to Food Banks Canada. Further, each Enterprise Holdings' regional subsidiary receives an additional allotment to support local food banks and food bank charities of their choice.

Enterprise also recently announced another important effort, "Routes & Roots: Enterprise Healthy Rivers Project," which involves a $30 million donation to The Nature Conservancy's long-term water resource management initiatives and is expected to benefit 150 million people. A portion of this donation includes support for TNC Canada, (The Nature Conservancy's Canadian affiliate) focused on bolstering Indigenous land and water management leadership in Canada.
