BioLogiQ Earns "USDA 100% Certified Biobased Product" Label for NuPlastiQ® GP BioPolymer

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho, March 20, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- BioLogiQ, Inc., a bioplastic resin manufacturing company specializing in environmentally friendly plastic products made from renewable resources, announced today that its NuPlastiQ GP BioPolymer is now part of the U.S. Department of Agriculture's USDA BioPreferred® Program and has earned the right to carry and use the "USDA 100% Certified Biobased Product" label.

Managed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), the goal of the BioPreferred program is to increase the purchase and use of biobased products, generating economic development, creating new jobs, and providing new markets for farm commodities. The increased development and use of biobased products also reduces reliance on petroleum, increases the use of renewable agricultural resources, and helps reduce adverse environmental and health impacts.

NuPlastiQ GP (GP) is a 100% natural, renewably-resourced, plant-based resin.  When GP is blended with traditional plastics, the resulting compounds reduce fossil-fuel based plastic use and greenhouse gas emissions, while also improving functional performance. The recyclability, compostability, or biodegradability of the traditional plastic is also maintained or enhanced.

According to Brad LaPray, president and founder of BioLogiQ, "Being recognized by the USDA as a 100% biobased product will help with our efforts to reduce global material usage and greenhouse gas emissions. It will also help advance both recycling and composting efforts for a wide variety of products and packages. Importantly, those who use our products will now be able to share the fact that they, too, are using biobased products in their formulations."

About BioLogiQ
Founded in 2011, BioLogiQ, Inc. of Idaho Falls, makes polymers from plants. It was established to create a useful plastic from the excess starch produced (and usually discarded) during potato processing. The company's goal is to help build a world free of pollution caused by fossil fuel-based plastics. For more information, visit www.biologiq.com or www.nuplastiq.com.

About the USDA BioPreferred Program
The BioPreferred Program is a USDA-led initiative that aims to facilitate the development and expansion of markets for biobased products. The increased development, purchase, and use of biobased products will reduce the Nation's reliance on petroleum, and increase the use of renewable agricultural materials. The official USDA Certified Biobased Product label has been specifically designed to empower consumers to readily identify products with verified biobased content.
