Miracle Flights Provides 569 Free Flights for Sick Kids in February
LAS VEGAS, March 20, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Continuing its mission to help critically ill children get the life-changing medical care they need, Miracle Flights, the nation's leading medical flight charity, today reported a total of 569 free flights performed in February. Since its establishment in 1985, the Las Vegas?based nonprofit organization has provided a total of 115,273 flights and flown more than 64 million miles to help children with rare and life-threatening conditions gain access to specialized, distant medical care.
Commercial flights are arranged free of charge for families, as many times as necessary, for doctors' appointments, evaluations, surgeries, ongoing therapy and follow-up visits.
"The mother of an 11-year-old boy we've flown 17 times now for treatment of a rare condition asked, 'What good is having a cure if you can't get to it?' That question is our raison d'être," said Mark E. Brown, Miracle Flights CEO. "Thanks to the continued support of our generous community partners and donors, with each passing month, Miracle Flights is able to help more families overcome the impossibility of distance and find hope that their child may live a longer, healthier life."
The majority of last month's flights were provided for patients based in North Carolina, followed by New York, Florida, California, Texas, Idaho and Miracle Flights' home state of Nevada. International flights were coordinated from Canada, Chile, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Peru and Puerto Rico.
