Port of Québec and North Sea Port sign partnership agreement

MONTREAL, March 16, 2018 /CNW Telbec/ - The Québec Port Authority (QPA) and  North Sea Port have signed a partnership agreement to address a number of issues facing both ports.

At a ceremony in Montreal during the state visit to Canada of Their Majesties the King and Queen of the Belgians, the president and CEO of the Port of Québec, Mr. Mario Girard, and the president and CEO of North Sea Port, Mr. Daan Schalck, signed a partnership agreement aimed at developing commercial ties between the two ports.

This new partnership arose from a desire to develop synergies between the two ports, which share common features and challenges. It will foster collaboration in key commercial sectors, including cereals, ore, and the forestry industry. It will also provide opportunities to discuss and share port know-how and best practices, sustainable port management, city?port relationships, and any commercial data that may be of interest to both parties.

"This agreement is significant in that it marks the beginning of a rewarding commercial collaboration. The similarities between the Port of Québec and North Sea Port are conducive to forging a beneficial partnership, thanks in part to our strategic geographic positions and our shared commercial sectors," said Port of Québec president and CEO Mario Girard.

"The Ports of North Sea Port and Quebec City show ambition to become a representative player in their respective continents. I am sure that tangible results are possible through cooperation." said Daan Schalck, President and CEO of the North Sea Port.

Representatives of the Port of Québec were present at the ceremony along with various attendees from the maritime transport sector. The Québec Port Authority also welcomed a delegation from North Sea Port earlier in the week to kick things off.
