Financial Education Benefits Center Encourages Members to Implement Incremental Change Towards Health Goals

SAN RAMON, Calif., March 14, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Incremental change can be a powerful way to achieve a goal. And actually achieving goals can be hard; many people can't keep their New Year's Resolutions past February, citing "enjoyment and importance" as key factors as whether they are successful or not. A majority of resolutions are concerned with health, too, suggesting that individuals may not be meeting their health goals. Financial Education Benefits Center (FEBC), a membership benefits company, offers wellness-related benefits that allow members to utilize an incremental approach towards achieving their health goals.

"Members at all plan levels have a variety of wellness-related benefits, and they can focus on one area at a time which they'd like to address," said Jennifer Martinez, Manager at FEBC. "The benefits have both included and discounted services related to health."

Incremental change addresses both the "enjoyment" and the "importance" factors that slow people down. First, by modifying habits incrementally, the change is less painful. A person's life isn't suddenly completely different than before. This might make it less likely that the person implementing the change will suddenly snap back to old habits.

Second, prioritizing certain goals over others may help the goal-setter achieve at least some of them, rather than trying to do everything at once. By achieving smaller goals, psychological momentum is created to achieve more.

FEBC members can peruse the benefits in their health and wellness package and determine how or if each benefit might help them achieve their health-related goals. Available benefits address a wide range of health and wellness issues, from hearing care to diabetes management to nutrition.

"Tiny steps towards any health goal could make a huge difference over time," said Martinez. "And we hope FEBC benefits can be a catalyst towards that greater change."
