AR-15 style rifles, ammo selling in outdoor store liquidation auction

COLUMBUS, Ohio, March 8, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Recent news stories may have been dominated by news that some retailers are ceasing to sell AR-15 style rifles, but there is no shortage of those guns in the online auctions currently under way to liquidate three store locations for Ohio Valley Trading Post.

"A lot of people are seeking to get these guns taken off the market. But we're not worried about current taboos, and these could be harder to find at some point. Of course, we will adhere strictly to all federal and state laws. We have at least two dozen and are adding more, and they're selling to the highest bidder in online auctions that conclude March 26-28," said Richard F. Kruse, auctioneer and president of Gryphon Auction Group.

The auctions also include hundreds of other guns, including rifles (single-shot, bolt-action and semi-automatic), as well as shotguns by Browning, Savage, Ruger, Beretta, Mossberg and others. Dozens of handguns also are being sold, including Glock, Smith & Wesson, Ruger, Kimber, Springfield Armory and Sig Sauer.  

"We even have at least one demilitarized LAW rocket that would make a great collector's piece or decoration," said Kruse.

The auctions are part of the ongoing liquidation of the outdoor chain.

"Our first Ohio Valley Trading Post auction attracted more than 1,583 bidders and resulted in the sale of 6,506 lots, and we're already getting a lot of traffic on these. This auction includes all the inventory of the stores in Athens, Ohio, Millfield, Ohio and Chillicothe, Ohio," said Kruse.

All firearm purchases require a background check, and arms may not be shipped to California, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York or Rhode Island.
