Golf Academy of America Faculty and Graduate Honored at 2017 Southwest PGA Awards

BIRMINGHAM, Ala., March 8, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Golf Academy of America is delighted to announce that a faculty member and a graduate of the program were both recognized for their achievements and honored with awards at the 2017 Southwest PGA Special Awards Ceremony, which took place on February 23, 2018. Tim Eberlein, Campus President at Golf Academy of America in Phoenix and PGA Master Professional, received the 2017 Horton Smith Award, while Min Park, Golf Academy of America graduate and PGA Head Golf Professional at Talking Stick Resort, was awarded 2017 Merchandiser of the Year in the Resorts category.

The Horton Smith award honors reputable golf professionals for their outstanding and long-lasting contributions to the development and improvement of education within the golf industry.

Campus president of Golf Academy of America since 1998, Eberlein has also served on the Southwest PGA Board of Directors and as the Chairman of the Education Committee from 2011 to 2017. This is his third Southwest PGA Horton Smith Award.

Park's passion for golfing led him to earn his associate's degree in Golf Complex Operation and Management from the Golf Academy of America. His professional career in golf began in 2011 at Troon Country Club and he has since continued to make significant strides in the industry to showcase his knowledge in administering tournaments and overseeing day-to-day operations.

During the ceremony, student and teacher both received their awards on stage to much applause.
