All Kinds of Springtime Activities at Espace pour la vie!

MONTRÉAL, Feb. 28, 2018 /CNW Telbec/ - In Quebec, with the arrival of spring we celebrate nature as it reawakens after a long, long winter. At Espace pour la vie, May brings not only the first blooms and a burst of colour, but also a special 5th anniversary program for the Planétarium Rio Tinto Alcan and the very popular Great Gardening Weekend at the Jardin botanique. It's a wonderful opportunity to renew our profound connections with the nature that dwells within us!

AT THE PLANÉTARIUM RIO TINTO ALCAN
Your favourites are back!
What better way to celebrate the planetarium's 5th anniversary than by bringing back the two shows that have been visitor favourites since it opened in 2013? By popular demand, the new double bill at the planetarium starting May 1 will feature Aur?rae and Continuum.

Aur?rae
Get a look at the postproduction techniques used by the planetarium team to brighten up and sharpen original images and make them even more realistic, bringing you the Northern Lights in a way that makes you feel like you're right there. From Montréal to Yellowknife, from outer space to the Earth's core, you'll see the aurora borealis like never before. Guided by an enthusiastic expert and accompanied by an electrifying score by DJ Champion, Aur?rae is an exceptional immersive experience.

Producer: Planétarium Rio Tinto Alcan (Canada)
Directors: Philippe Baylaucq and Sébastien Gauthier
Length: 30 minutes
The show is preceded by a 10-minute presentation on the night sky.

Continuum
From the infinitely small to the infinitely large, you'll be inspired by this cosmic poem on the connection between humankind and the Universe. A breathtaking show designed by a pair of internationally acclaimed Montréal artists, Michel Lemieux and Victor Pilon, set to the entrancing symphonic music of Philip Glass.

Producer: Neurone 3 and Planétarium Rio Tinto Alcan (Canada)
Length: 23 minutes

AT THE JARDIN BOTANIQUE
Get your fill of spring colours
Ah, May! It's when the rhododendrons in the Leslie Hancock Garden sport their blazing colours and the Alpine Garden is filled with blooms. It's tulip time in the Reception Gardens, and you won't want to miss the lilacs, either.  Fill your senses as you stroll from one garden to another. It's a great place to bring mom on Mother's Day, and you can take home all sorts of inspiring ideas to brighten up your spring.

Nature dwells within us
In 2018, Espace pour la vie is looking at the many ways of dwelling on our planet. It's a source of inspiration for some, and a call to reflection and dialogue for others, leading to citizen-based initiatives. This year at Montréal Space for Life, nature dwells within us more than ever!

Espace pour la vie is made up of four attractions on the same site: the Biodôme, Insectarium, Jardin botanique and Planétarium Rio Tinto Alcan. These four prestigious municipal institutions form Canada's largest natural science museum complex. Together, they are launching a daring, creative urban movement, urging everyone to rethink the connection between humankind and nature and cultivate a new way of living.
