Radio Program 'In Your Right Mind' will Explore the Psychology of Serial Killers and Psychopaths in a New Broadcast on 790 AM KABC

SAN CLEMENTE, Calif., Feb. 23, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- "In Your Right Mind," a weekly radio program that features in-depth roundtable discussions of today's leading behavioral health headlines, is set to air an informative show "The Psychology of a Serial Killer," this Sunday, February 25, at 5 p.m. Pacific Standard Time on Talk Radio 790 AM KABC Los Angeles. The broadcast will discuss the brain abnormalities of psychopaths and serial killers, the role of nature and nurture in the development of psychopathic tendencies and traits, and what makes serial killers different from other mass murderers. The show is hosted by Tonmoy Sharma, M.B.B.S., M.Sc., founder and Chief Executive Officer of Sovereign Health, who provides an in-depth medical and clinical expertise, and co-host Stefanie Wilder-Taylor.

One of the Sunday's guests is James H. Fallon, Ph.D., a successful neuroscientist and a professor of psychiatry and human behavior at the University of California, Irvine. He is also an author of the book, "The Psychopath Inside." His research program is primarily in four areas, including adult stem cells, chemical neuroanatomy and circuitry, higher brain functions and brain imaging.

The other guest is Katherine Ramsland, Ph.D., a professor of forensic psychology at DeSales University in Pennsylvania. Dr. Ramsland created the forensic track in the psychology program and assisted to create the online Master of Arts degree in criminal justice. She has published more than 1,000 articles, blogs, book chapters, and reviews, as well as 60 books. She came to DeSales specifically to teach forensic psychology, focusing on her field of expertise, extreme offenders. Having experienced the excitement of this area of psychology, she hopes to show students how to find and prepare for its many opportunities. Even among forensic psychology programs, the subjects that students can take here are unique. Dr. Ramsland has taken students on an anthropological dig, exposed them to historical exhumations, introduced them to renowned forensic professionals, and offered opportunities to be involved in her research and writing.

"The traits of psychopathy everyone accepts and understands, but the question is: how do you put them together with other traits to come up with some form of a taxonomy that can distinguish this person with someone with narcissistic disorder, borderline personality disorder or several other personality disorders?" asks Dr. Fallon.

Generalizing serial killers, murders or a narcissist is not possible, and not all have a psychopathy disorder. These traits can be developed through various aspects such as sexual, anger, greed or other emotions.  According to the FBI, the definition of a serial killer (murderer) is the unlawful killing of two or more victims by the same offender(s), in separate events. To learn more about the characteristics of a mass murder, serial killer and psychopath, tune in this Sunday.
