35th edition of the Fête des neiges de Montréal enjoys a successful run

MONTRÉAL, Feb. 12, 2018 /CNW Telbec/ - An outstanding array of activities, combined with exciting entertainment and a diversified musical program enabled the Fête des neiges de Montréal, presented by Tim Hortons, to once again be a big hit with the many families who came to the event to enjoy winter at its best.

The 35th edition of the popular event, which ran over four weekends, from January 20 to February 11, at Parc Jean-Drapeau, attracted more than 101,000 visitors, an attendance figure that met the expectations of the Fête's organizers who had to deal with the capriciousness of Mother Nature throughout the event.

"Despite the erratic weather this winter, we were able to stage another successful Fête this year, and that is largely due to the quality of our facilities and the tireless efforts of our staff. We just completed the 35th edition of the event and we are proud to say that winter has no secret for us," noted Ronald Cyr, the General Manager of the Société du parc Jean-Drapeau.

During all four weekends of the Fête, there were more than 20 different activities that elated visitors who made the trip to the Parc to take part in the festivities. An enjoyable time was held by all, whether they were soaring through the air on the Zip-line, participating in a Snow Scooter race, admiring the impressive Ice Ship, striking out on an adventure on Mont Boullé or visiting the thrilling world of the Penguins' Village, people of all ages harkened back to their youth, making memories that will last for a long time.

During the four-week run of the festivities, a wide range of artists entertained the crowds and delivered some rousing outdoor performances, on the main stage and in the Zone Faim de loup. These included uplifting shows by Annie Brocoli and Maria Cannelloni, exciting entertainment by Alexe Gaudreault, Soran Dussaigne and Andie Duquette, and lively performances by Sylvain Tremblay and George Papafilys.

Visitors were also able to literally taste the joys of winter thanks to the presence of more than 10 food concessions, a source of delight for all food-lovers. The most popular concessions included the Das Food Truck, the Bacon Truck, Boîte à fromages and the Queues de Castor. A special mention goes out to the new Zone Faim de loup, which provided a gathering spot for visitors to have a bite to eat in a cozy setting while attending a live performance by traditional artists.
