Scarlett James Brings the Art of Burlesque to Dubai

MONTREAL, Feb. 06, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Scarlett James, a Montreal artist recognized as one of the world's top burlesque performers, has been invited to appear at the Buddha Bar in Dubai (United Arab Emirates) to Celebrate the Chinese New Year with the theme of  "One Night in Shanghai." The event, which will take place at the prestigious Grosvenor House Dubai, is renowned for attracting the elite and the international, along with world-renowned celebrities like Elton John, Adrien Brody or Chef Gary Rodhes. Amy, a famous Chinese jazz singer, will perform alongside international Dj Blue Ivy.

The chic "premier arrondissement" in Paris was the first to host the legendary Buddha Bar. Now known as one of the best bars and restaurants of Dubai, it is located in the heart of the marina bay. Its impressive restaurant is dominated by a four-metre high golden Buddha statue and an extravagant 20-metre wide window offering a spectacular view of the city.

"In the 1930s, Shanghai embodied the intrigue, mystery, exoticism and romance of Asia, all of which still linger today," said Scarlett James. "The city inspired many artists like Orson Welles and Rita Hayworth, who in turn had a big influence on my work. It is truly a privilege to be invited to showcase the art of burlesque with this theme in Dubai."

Scarlett James is the quintessential burlesque artist, inspired by the stars and the artistry of the past, but in constant evolution. Her burlesque book, "The True Art of Seduction," co-authored with historian Michel Grondin, has become a reference on the subject. Scarlett James is also the producer of the "Scarlett Grande Revue," Montreal's biggest event of its kind, celebrating Scarlett's 10-year career anniversary. The show will take place at the Club Soda, on April 28, 2018.

Scarlett James was nominated for the ARISTA provincial competition organized by the Junior Chamber of Commerce of Montreal. She is one of the Montreal Gazette's top 20 hottest Montrealers.
