Greenfield Natural Meat Co. asks North Americans to go meatless on Mondays

By moderating consumption, and choosing sustainably-raised meat, we can all reduce our impact on the environment.

MISSISSAUGA, ON, Feb. 5, 2018 /PRNewswire/ - Greenfield Natural Meat Co. has launched a bold campaign to encourage people to enjoy meat in moderation and reduce their environmental impact by going meatless on Mondays.

Greenfield Natural Meat Co. (CNW Group/Greenfield Natural Meat Co.)

"Climate change and environmental sustainability are among the most critical issues of our time," said Domenic Borrelli, Vice President and General Manager. "Greenfield is changing how meat is made to dramatically reduce our impact on air, land and water. But we all need to do more to live more sustainably. Through this campaign, we hope to elevate awareness of the need to enjoy meat in moderation and to choose meat that is produced more sustainably, from animals raised with care, free from antibiotics and hormones, and opt for more sustainable choices that have less environmental impact, including pork and poultry."

"By going meat-free one day a week, and choosing more sustainable meat on other days, we can all contribute to a better planet. It's a simple act with a big impact," continued Mr. Borrelli.

Greenfield has committed to reducing its environmental footprint by 50 per cent by 2025. This includes reducing its impact on climate change (energy and emissions), water and land. Encouraging North Americans to eat meat in moderation and make better choices has a critical role in advancing a more sustainable food system.

Taking the Pledge
Greenfield is launching a digital, social media and out-of-home campaign beginning the week of February 5th, that will inspire North Americans to go meatless one day a week. Consumers looking for vegetarian recipes, meaningful statistics and other inspiration can do so at www.greenfieldmeatless.com.  Those who love meat and want it to be part of a sustainable future are invited to make the pledge today.
