Perimeter Plastic Surgery Announces Winter Special: $500 Off Tummy Tucks

ATLANTA, Jan. 22, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- With much of the nation experiencing unseasonably cold winter weather, most people probably aren't thinking about fitting into their swimsuits and shorts right now. However, "winter is an actually an ideal time to undergo a tummy tuck procedure, and get ready for the hot weather that is still many months away," says Mark Deutsch, MD, a double board certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon and medical director of Perimeter Plastic Surgery.

The tummy tuck (medically known as abdominoplasty) is a cosmetic surgery that removes loose skin and excess fat from the abdomen in order to tighten the muscles in that part of the body. The result is a stomach that appears flat and toned, rather than loose and flabby.

"Many patients find that recovery from abdominoplasty is easier and faster during the winter when temperatures are cooler," Dr. Deutsch notes. "During the hot summer months, exposure to the sun can slow down the recovery process, and it could take longer to see the treatment benefits. But if you have your tummy tuck in the winter, it's usually easier to control the post-op swelling, since your body doesn't have to work nearly as hard to dissipate heat."

Furthermore, the compression garments?which must be worn for several weeks following abdominoplasty to control swelling and improve results?can get hot and sweaty when worn in the summer. "It's much more comfortable having the compression garments on in the winter, when it's cold and you are trying to stay warm," Dr. Deutsch says.

Not only that, wearing bulky winter coats and sweaters can actually help conceal these surgical dressings when out in public. "When hot weather does return, the compression garments will no longer need to be worn and you will be able to show off your new shape without any restrictions on your wardrobe or activity," Dr. Deutsch says.

Perimeter Plastic Surgery is currently offering $500 off tummy tuck procedures through March 31, 2018. Understand, though, that abdominoplasty is not right for everyone. Dr. Deutsch urges people who are interested in abdominoplasty to schedule a complimentary consultation to find out if they are good candidates for the procedure.

According to Dr. Deutsch, the best candidates are those who are in good overall health and close to their ideal body weight, but have excess fat, loose skin and/or weakened muscles in the abdominal area. "The primary goal of this surgery is to improve shape and contour," he says. "Tummy tuck surgery is not meant to be a replacement for weight loss."
