Minnesotan Amanda Trunzo Dominates Red Bull Crashed Ice Saint Paul

Amanda Trunzo, a hometown favorite, stole the show, finishing first in the Women's division. With a blazing start, Trunzo beat defending world champion Jacqueline Legere of Canada to the first hair-pin turn on the track and never looked back to win the first of four major Red Bull Crashed Ice races in the 10-race Ice Cross Downhill World Championship.

"I'm so excited to win in front of my home crowd tonight," said Trunzo who hails from Blaine, Minn. "It's the first race this season and I wouldn't want to start it any other way. To have the home crowd on my side, thousands of spectators plus all my family and friends, it was unbelievable."

The Men's Division was filled with equally heart-pounding action with Dallago of Austria showing great resilience as he climbed from fourth position to claim victory in the last race of the evening in a dramatic finish after the three leaders crashed ? to the amazement of the enormous crowd. Dallago became the first European to win a Red Bull Crashed Ice race in nearly four years in a sport dominated by Americans and Canadians, defeating another local favorite and two-time World Champion Cameron Naasz.

"The setup here is incredible, I'm super happy about the win," said Dallago, who came back from fourth place to capture the Men's title. "This is as good as Red Bull Crashed Ice gets and I'm looking forward to the next race in Finland."

American Michael "Iggy" Iulianello survived a crash on the final turn to hold onto second place ahead of Canada's Scott Croxall, the 2015 world champion. To the delight of the enthusiastic hometown crowd, Naasz was leading until late in the high-speed race but the two-time defending Ice Cross Downhill World Champion crashed on a jump near the end of the race and ended up placing fourth.

Saint Paul has long been a staple of the Red Bull Crashed Ice global series, remaining one of the toughest tracks on the tour year over year. Red Bull Crashed Ice is supported by Visit St. Paul, BFGoodrich, Hyundai Motor Company, Polaris, United States Marine Corps, United States Air Force, T-Mobile, and Casio.
