Designer Andrew Jang of Adriaen Black Donates 370 Custom-Made Coats to Bronx Students

NEW YORK, Jan. 19, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Designer Andrew Jang, founder of the Manhattan-based private label clothing brand Adriaen Black, donated 370 custom-tailored coats to students at PS 154 in the Bronx, New York this winter. Most prominently known for creating custom suits for top NBA players' off-court appearances, Andrew Jang launched his latest initiative "Made to Measure, Made to Love" with the hopes of giving back to the underserved kids and teens in nearby communities.

"I didn't grow up with much, and I know firsthand what it is like to constantly receive hand-me-downs, rather than a new piece of clothing," says Jang. "I wanted to give these kids something truly special?winter coats personalized exclusively for them."

The Adriaen Black designer personally invested $440,000 to bring his vision to fruition. He spent to two full days at the school, where he acquired measurements for each individual student. The students then had the opportunity select their preferred style and color of the coat. And in case there was any question as to how custom the coats would be, Andrew Jang also saw that each one was monogrammed with the student's initials.

"Next year, I'd like to take this initiative even further. Instead of 370 coats, I'd like to see 3,700 made," says Jang. "Additionally, I hope that by receiving this gift from me, these students will also feel inspired and empowered to give back themselves. As they grow, perhaps they will donate this coat to someone younger."

A custom coat from Andrew Jang would ordinarily retail for as much as $2,000.

"I have big plans for 'Made to Measure, Made to Love,' plans that span beyond just winter coats," says Jang. "Eventually, I'd like to get to a place where we can design entire wardrobes for the students!"

For now, Andrew Jang of Adriaen Black has already begun talks to create custom outfits the students can wear to their college entrance and prospective job interviews. Already, many of his NBA clients have shown interest in getting involved in the initiative.
