Kaiser Permanente Unveils Fitness Zone in Georgetown Playfield

SEATTLE, Jan. 18, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- It's a fitness center with no monthly dues, open 24/7 and welcome to all. The recently unveiled fitness zone at Georgetown Playfield in Seattle is a collection of free cardio and strength equipment for teens and adults. It's a permanent installation and now one of the playfield's many offerings.

The fitness equipment was donated by Kaiser Permanente Washington to help the community stay active and healthy. This donation is one part of a multi-year collaboration with the Trust for Public Land, local municipalities and parks, including Seattle Parks and Recreation. Working with these partners and local community members, Kaiser Permanente will support the creation of new play and fitness areas in 10 parks and open spaces around the state, providing opportunities for the community to come together in a healthy way.

"Total health happens where we live, work, learn and play. That's why we're investing in healthy and sustainable communities and bringing exercise equipment to people who might not have easy access to fitness options," said Kim Wicklund, director, community health and benefit, Kaiser Permanente Washington.

There's a gym's worth of training machines in the Georgetown Playfield. Fitness equipment installed includes: an elliptical trainer, chest/back press, squat press, pull-up/dip machine, assisted row/push-up, ab crunch/leg lift, and a rotary torso to strengthen abdominals.

"We hope that people in the community will enjoy this equipment for years to come," Wicklund said.
