The City of Grand Prairie enhances employee benefits with SurgeryPlus

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas, Jan. 17, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The City of Grand Prairie (the "City") is excited to announce the expansion of its member healthcare coverage options starting September 2017 through Employer Direct Healthcare's SurgeryPlus®, a supplemental benefit for non-emergent surgeries that provides high quality care, a better experience and lower costs.

The City always looks for ways to enhance and support the work lives of its dedicated employees. With first responders such as dedicated police officers and firefighters protecting and serving the Grand Prairie community, it's of top priority for the City to ensure their employees and covered family members have access to the highest quality of care, while also identifying opportunities to drive cost savings for taxpayers and members.

Through SurgeryPlus, City employees and their dependents will have access to an elite, high-performance Surgeons of Excellence network that includes top quality, and 100 percent board-certified providers. Providers in the SurgeryPlus network have been rigorously screened, significantly reducing the risk of surgical complications. The City recognizes the valuable role each employee plays in maintaining the Grand Prairie community and has partnered with SurgeryPlus to provide their members with the safest surgical choices, while also reducing the out-of-pocket expenses that often times lead to financial debt, and even medical bankruptcy.

John Zutter, CEO of Employer Direct Healthcare said, "With the success of the SurgeryPlus benefit for the City of Fort Worth and their members, we are incredibly excited to bring this benefit to more members in Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex. Headquartered in Dallas, we have a strong connection to the metroplex and we are thrilled to grow our local presence with the City of Grand Prairie."

SurgeryPlus® will create substantial savings, for both the City and their members, through the benefit's pre-negotiated and discounted bundled rates with providers. By packaging surgical expenses into one simple bundled rate, SurgeryPlus® reduces members' financial stress and burden from unexpected medical bills. Under this benefit, members will only need to meet their plan deductible; all other surgical costs are covered, potentially saving members thousands of dollars.

With SurgeryPlus®, members are provided with access to a dedicated Care Coordinators who educate members on their SurgeryPlus® benefit and simplify the medical experience by managing all scheduling, logistics and transferring of medical records for a white-glove service from start to finish.
