Canadian Association of Consulting Energy Advisors Opens New Chapter in Ontario as Province Seeks New Ways to Lower Carbon Emissions

OTTAWA, Dec. 18, 2017 /CNW/ - The Canadian Association of Consulting Energy Advisors (CACEA), an organization set to support and promote Energy Advisors (EAs) across Canada, has officially opened a new chapter in Ontario. This milestone marks the sixth chapter to be opened by CACEA.

The demand for EAs in the province is increasing as the Government of Ontario continues to seek new ways to lower carbon emissions. According to Ontario's Climate Change Action Plan, buildings account for almost one quarter of Ontario's total greenhouse gas (GHG) pollution.

In 2016, EAs helped to identify and consult on the reduction of CO2 produced by existing houses across Canada by 148,558.49 tons per year, the equivalent of taking 28,859 cars off the road for a year.

The Directors of the Ontario chapter are Mark Rosen, a licensed architect and industry leader, and Stephen Magneron, an advanced buildings specialist recognized as the best residential energy consultant in Ontario in 2016 with EnerQuality's Evaluator of the Year Award.

"Since its inception, CACEA has already seen an astonishing amount of support from energy advisors across Canada," said Mark, Chair of the Ontario chapter. "The Ontario chapter will see the same passion and growth as we help guide utilities, building officials, builders and developers, and homeowners, as the Government of Ontario moves to mandating EA services."

"We want to be the voice for energy advisors across Canada," said Stephen. "This requires us to regulate our membership and keep it accessible. All of our members are licensed and registered with the appropriate regulatory organizations. We will also provide training and education to ensure we always meet the expectations of all of our stakeholders."

CACEA is fully supported by the Canadian Home Builders Association and Built Green Canada.
