Veterans Tour Globe Life Park with Wounded Warrior Project

ARLINGTON, Texas, Dec.16, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Although baseball season is officially over for the year, veterans and their families recently enjoyed a special tour of Globe Life Park with the Texas Rangers and Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP). Baseball fans followed a guided tour for a unique experience, seeing places only players usually get to see.

Veterans and their families recently toured the Globe Life Park with the Texas Rangers and Wounded Warrior Project.

"The kids and I loved the behind-the-scenes ballpark tour," said Navy veteran Paul Chabot. "We bought Texas Rangers gear and plan to attend games next year. I really appreciate Wounded Warrior Project family events ? they help bring us closer together, while also connecting with other families sharing similar backgrounds."

During this exciting tour, veterans and their family members learned about the history of the stadium and explored the entire ballpark, including the batting cages, dugout, former President George W. Bush's personal box, and the news conference room.

WWP program gatherings offer settings that provide opportunities for injured veterans to form bonds with one another and their communities. In a WWP survey (https://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/survey) of the injured warriors it serves, more than half of survey respondents (51.6 percent) expressed they talk with fellow veterans to address their mental health issues.

WWP also serves warriors by focusing on mental and physical health and wellness, financial wellness, independence, government relations, and community relations and partnerships. Generous donors make it possible for wounded warriors to take part in connection activities and benefit from program resources at no cost to them.

"We met lots of great warriors sharing their excitement for the tour," Paul said, "and my family and I will continue to attend similar events."
