Holiday Magic at Historic Lecompton Kansas

LECOMPTON, Kan., Dec. 15, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Make plans to come visit Lecompton through Jan. 1, 2018!  The Territorial Capital Museum, 640 E. Woodson, housed in the beautiful stone Lane University building, is home to the most amazing Christmas exhibit you will ever see!  Meet your friends and family in Lecompton to enjoy the sights and get into the Christmas spirit.

Christmas Tree Display at Lecompton's Territorial Capital Museum

Our Christmas tree exhibit is the largest in the Midwest and has grown substantially over the years.  It is considered a destination for those who love Christmas.  We now have over 150 trees decorated with vintage and antique ornaments including trees from around the world and even our own KU and K State trees.  Every year we add new trees; this year includes a beautiful tree costume fashioned from a similar costume of Victorian era tradition. The numbers of visitors come from all over the country and beyond with increasing attendance every year!

The Territorial Capital Museum is happy to schedule group tours and can include a visit to the Constitution Hall, a Kansas designated historical site, which is where the famous Lecompton constitution was written. Two eateries are available including Aunt Netter's, voted one of the best small town cafes in Kansas, and Kroger's Country Meats offering great hamburgers and other sandwiches along with their 23 varieties of their sausage made in-house.  The Territorial Capital Museum has special hours during this exhibit:  M-Sat 10 -4, Sun 1-5. There is no entrance fee but donations are appreciated.  For more information call the museum at 785-887-6148.
