MONTRÉAL, Dec. 12, 2017 /CNW Telbec/ - The Texas Hold'em bad beat progressive jackpot at the Casino de Montréal surpassed the all-time record for North American land-based casinos when it hit $1,213,486 yesterday. Poker hall activities add to the jackpot every day.

Bad beat jackpot
The bad beat jackpot is a progressive jackpot that rewards an unlucky player and the other players who took part in the hand. When the odds are in a player's favour but that player loses at the showdown, the player becomes the big winner of the bad beat jackpot! Losing never paid out so much.
Trigger mechanism
To win the progressive jackpot, a player having made a cash bet at poker must lose with four 10s or better.
Progressive jackpot distribution
When the progressive jackpot is triggered, 50% of the amount goes to the loser, 25% goes to the winner and 25% is split amongst the other players at the table.
