SNC-Lavalin awarded contract on the WestConnex M4 Project

MONTREAL, Dec. 8, 2017 /CNW Telbec/ - SNC-Lavalin (TSX: SNC) is delighted to announce that it has been awarded an electrical contract for the WestConnex M4 East (WCXM4E) Project in Sydney, Australia from the CPB, Samsung, John Holland (CSJ) Joint Venture.

SNC-Lavalin will undertake the electrical fit out of the western section of the tunnel, which includes the substations, jet fans, electrical equipment rooms, tolling system, permanent and emergency lighting, communications systems, and intelligent messaging. SNC-Lavalin will also pre-commission the works for the western end of the twin tunnels, which will have three lanes in each direction. The project will commence in December 2017 and is expected to be completed in July 2018.

"As one of the largest engineering and construction contractors in Australia we have successfully delivered engineering, procurement and construction projects across a wide range of industries and markets in Australia for over 30 years. We look forward to working with the CSJ joint venture to deliver this important project supporting Sydney's infrastructure development, said Garry Ford, Senior Vice-President, Oil & Gas, Asia Pacific. To be awarded this contract for the WestConnex M4 East is an honor and is testament of our ability to leverage and transfer the strength and expertise of our capabilities; in this case combining electrical installation capabilities honed on oil & gas facilities, with our world-class infrastructure offering."

The CPB, Samsung, John Holland Joint Venture has been successful in securing the contract to deliver the $3.8bn WestConnex M4 East project. As part of a broader scheme to connect Sydney's west with the Airport and the Port Botany precincts, construction of the WCXM4E will join the M4 widening at Homebush Bay Drive and provide a 5.5km tunnel with three lanes in each direction from the M4 at North Strathfield to Parramatta Road and the City West Link.
