Saint-Odilon-de-Cranbourne families to enjoy an improved community arena for a better quality of life

Close to $340,000 in funding from the Government of Canada made it possible to install a refrigerated ice rink in the Beauce area community arena

SAINT-ODILON-DE-CRANBOURNE, QC, Dec. 1, 2017 /CNW/ - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)

Saint-Odilon-de-Cranbourne families will enjoy better play spaces for their children and improved facilities for socializing and physical activity thanks to a $337,671 investment from the Government of Canada.

The funding was announced today by the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions.

The financial assistance has helped the municipality improve the Saint-Odilon-de-Cranbourne arena by installing an ice rink refrigeration system, along with a refrigerated carpet and cooling unit.

The funding was granted through the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program (CIP150), a $300 million fund that was established to celebrate Canada's 150th anniversary through investments in community spaces that bring Canadians together.

Quotes

"This investment is part of a community construction project celebrating Canada's 150th anniversary. There is no better way to mark this milestone than to celebrate the places that bring us together?the places that allow us to stay fit, unwind and connect with our friends and neighbours. That is how we establish the bonds of common understanding and friendship in a country where people come from every corner of the world. The values of openness, diversity and inclusion that define all Canadians are forged in our community spaces."

The Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister responsible for CED

"I am very pleased about CED's support in the region. Part of Canada's 150th celebrations, this federal partnership with the Municipality of Saint-Odilon-de-Cranbourne is just one of many community projects that have received support over the past year. I want to thank all of those who are committed to and participate in community life. You are essential to the vitality of our beautiful region!"

David Lametti, member of Parliament for LaSalle?Émard?Verdun and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development
