The Centre d'Exposition de Mont-Laurier Will Be Relocated to the Town Hall


The Government of Canada supports the redevelopment of the Centre d'exposition de Mont-Laurier

MONT-LAURIER, QC, Nov. 24, 2017 /CNW/ - David Graham, Member of Parliament (Laurentides?Labelle), on behalf of the Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Canadian Heritage, today announced $597,008 in funding for the project to relocate the Centre d'exposition de Mont-Laurier to the former abbey that now serves as the town hall.

This support, provided by the Government of Canada through the Canada Cultural Spaces Fund, will make it possible to move the exhibition hall into the former abbey of the Benedictines in Mont?Laurier. The project includes the acquisition of specialized lighting, sound, multimedia and museum equipment.

The Centre d'exposition de Mont-Laurier, founded in 1977, is a non-profit organization whose mission is to be a venue for visual arts and arts and crafts in the Upper Laurentians. The Centre showcases and promotes the work of professional and emerging artists.

After 28 years at the Maison de la culture, in 2018?19, the Centre d'exposition will move to the former Benedictine abbey. Thanks to this project, the organization will be able to diversify its programming and improve the quality of its visual arts educational activities. Visitors and artists will have an exhibition centre that will offer the best and most modern conditions for art display.

The new Centre d'exposition will include an arts and crafts workshop for students and the community. The new exhibition hall will also be fitted to museum standards.
