Four talented CIBC leaders recognized for their achievements and influence


TORONTO, Nov. 23, 2017 /CNW/ - CIBC (TSX: CM) (NYSE: CM) would like to congratulate four outstanding leaders who are being recognized for their contributions and leadership in their respective fields.  

Sandy Sharman, Senior Executive Vice-President & Chief Human Resources & Communications Officer has been recognized by Women's Executive Network for the second year in a row as one of Canada's Most Powerful Women: Top 100  in the HSBC Corporate Executives Award Criteria category.  She is recognized for developing and delivering the bank's human capital strategies for 44,000 CIBC team members, while maintaining a culture that is inclusive and engaged. She is a driving force behind the bank's focus on its inclusion and diversity strategy, with a strong focus on gender equity. With her leadership, CIBC is creating a place where every member of the team can thrive, connect, develop and prosper.   

Veni Iozzo, Executive Vice-President, Communications & Public Affairs has been recognized by Women's Executive Network as one of Canada's Most Powerful Women: Top 100 in the BMO Arts & Communications Award Criteria category. Ms. Iozzo is recognized for her deep experience and contributions in financial services. Over her career, she has led the launch of new businesses and groundbreaking products, as well as of new brands. In addition to her existing portfolio, most recently, she has taken on the leadership for the bank's workplace strategy and transition to the bank's new global headquarters, CIBC Square. She also gives back to the community, serving as a board member for a number of charities, with a special focus on championing the empowerment of women and girls.

Susan Rimmer, Managing Director and Head, Global Corporate Banking has been awarded the Women in Capital Markets 2017 Leadership Award.  Ms. Rimmer leads CIBC's corporate banking business across Canada, United States, Europe and Asia. In addition to her business leadership, she plays a central role in championing diversity and inclusion at the bank. CIBC Capital Markets is focused on fostering female talent through a number of initiatives.  As a long-standing, passionate advocate for women and as a former member of the Gender Inclusion and Diversity Action Committee, Ms. Rimmer's guidance and leadership is playing a key role in attracting and advancing women to the bank, including increasing the intake placement rate of women within CIBC's campus recruitment programs.

As CIBC builds an empowered and enabled team that delivers the full power of the bank to its clients, CIBC is continuing to invest in talent at all levels of the organization.  CIBC is also pleased to congratulate one of its emerging leaders for their award. 

Christina Hatziioannou, Director, Digital Strategy has been recognized by Women's Executive Network as one of Canada's Most Powerful Women: Top 100 in the TELUS Future Leaders category. Passionate about transforming retail banking to help clients bank when, where and how they want, Ms. Hatziioannou helps lead multiple strategies to support CIBC's transformation into a modern, convenient bank that put clients at the centre of every interaction. Ms. Hatziioannou is also a member of CIBC's Women's Network, which promotes the diverse and changing needs of women at CIBC.
