Negotiation with the Treasury Board of Canada - Agreement in principle for 7400 correctional officers

OTTAWA, Nov. 17, 2017 /CNW Telbec/ - On Thursday evening, November 16, the Union of Canadian Correctional Officers (UCCO-SACC-CSN) reached an agreement in principle with the Treasury Board.

Forty-two months after the expiry of the last collective agreement, UCCO-SACC-CSN's bargaining committee is proud of this agreement. "The government finally recognizes the dangerous and unique work of correctional officers in the Canadian public service. Through patience, solidarity and mobilization from coast to coast, we have achieved significant gains for those who work on a daily basis behind the walls of the institutions across the country", said Jason Godin, National President of UCCO-SACC-CSN.

The tentative agreement will be presented to members and put to a vote at general assemblies across Canada in the coming weeks.

About the union

The Union of Canadian Correctional Officers (UCCO-SACC-CSN) represents more than 7400 members, across Canada's five major regions: Pacific, Prairies, Ontario, Québec and Atlantic. UCCO-SACC-CSN represents Correctional Officers in 49 federal institutions.
