Four Roanoke Cement Sites Recertified by Wildlife Habitat Council

TROUTVILLE, Va., Nov. 13, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Four Roanoke Cement Company sites have been recertified by the Wildlife Habitat Council during an event last week in Baltimore, MD celebrating corporate conservation. The four sites include Roanoke Cement's Front Royal, Richmond and Bristol, VA locations as well as its Winston-Salem, NC cement terminal.

L to R is Lance Clinard RCC Winston Salem Terminal Manager; William Cobb Wildlife Habitat Council Executive Committee Chairman and Howard Thomas RCC Richmond Terminal Assistant Manager.

"We are proud to showcase our environmental initiatives at the terminals," says David Brinkley, Director of Distribution & Customer Resources at Roanoke Cement Company. "Having the Wildlife Habitat Council's recertification for each of them is a distinguished recognition confirming that all of Roanoke Cement's sites are on the right track ecologically. We look forward to continuing our conservation efforts providing pleasing, "green" features within our terminal campuses. A few examples include pollinator meadows at Front Royal and Winston-Salem, avian habitats for the Eastern Bluebird in Richmond, and stream restoration in Bristol."

WHC's certification program, "Conservation Certification," is built on best practices of global recognition programs, reflects contemporary conservation efforts, and applies its collective learning to the future of biodiversity in the U.S. and around the globe. Front Royal, Richmond and Winston-Salem were originally certified in 2013 and this endorsement marked their second recertification. Bristol was originally certified in 2015. Certification by WHC is valid for two years.

WHC's certification recognizes meaningful wildlife habitat management and conservation education programs. The WHC certification serves as an objective evaluation, provides third-party credibility and helps companies, like Roanoke Cement, showcase its long-term commitment to managing quality habitat for wildlife, conservation education and community outreach initiatives.
