TORONTO, Nov. 10, 2017 /CNW/ - Rugby Canada today announced a multi-year partnership renewal with Velocity Trade. Velocity Trade (CNW Group/Velocity Trade)

Velocity Trade, a global equity, foreign exchange and precious metals broker dealer, will be featured as the front of jersey sponsor for Canada's Men's Sevens Team on nine of the ten stops of the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series, throughout the partnership. Velocity Trade's logo will also feature on the back of the team's shorts for the one additional Series stop, in Vancouver.

With offices in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and the UK, Velocity Trade's staff and guests were able to watch the Canadian team live on various tour stops in 2017, along with attending a training session and having Canadian players attend one of their private functions in Cape Town and Sydney.

"Velocity Trade are delighted to further our sponsorship of rugby in Canada," said Simon Law, Managing Partner of Velocity Trade. "In addition to the grass roots sponsorship of the Rugby Alliance which is in its seventh year locally in Toronto, Velocity is pleased to be supporting Canada's efforts on the global stage. Our global trading partners, clients and friends through our network of offices across four continents are able to enjoy the exposure of Canada's finest in action in this fast-paced and highly exciting arena."

Canada's Men's Sevens Team made history last year by winning their first-ever Cup Title in 140 all-time tournaments, defeating USA 26-19 in Singapore to win gold. Along with a bronze medal finish in London in the final leg of the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series, 2016-17 was an exciting year as Canada finished the 10-stop series in 8th place.

The 2017-18 season consists of 10 tournaments on the World Series, along with the Silicon Valley 7s in November, Commonwealth Games in April and the Rugby World Cup 7s in July. For the third straight year, HSBC Canada Sevens returns to Vancouver's BC Place March 10-11. After more than 75,000 fans filled the stadium for this year's events, tickets have been selling at a rapid pace. To purchase tickets, please click here.

Canada's 2017-18 roster includes 16 returnees from last year's team, including veterans John Moonlight, Nathan Hirayama and Harry Jones, along with the exciting additions of current Montreal Alouettes defensive back Tevaughn Campbell and the return of Adam Zaruba, who recently finished a training stint with the Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League.

"Rugby Canada and our National Senior Men's Sevens team are proud to renew our partnership with Velocity Trade, a global equity, foreign exchange and precious metals broker dealer that has a keen interest in supporting our sport," said Mark Lemmon, Chief Commercial and Marketing Officer of Rugby Canada. "We look forward to working with the Velocity Trade team around the world, as we compete in the HSBC Sevens Series and prepare for the 2018 Rugby World Cup Sevens in San Francisco next August."

The 2017-2018 HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series will begin its 10 round international circuit on December 1-2, 2017 in Dubai, before the 16 nations travel to Cape Town, South Africa the following weekend for round 2.
