MELVILLE, N.Y., Nov. 9, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Henry Schein, Inc. (Nasdaq: HSIC) announced today that Ruby Eaches, Practice Manager for North Carolina-based Surf City Dental, has been selected as the recipient of the fifth annual Green Leader Award by the American Association of Dental Office Management (AADOM). Ms. Eaches is the winner of the American Association of Dental Office Management's fifth annual Green Leader Award. AADOM created the award as part of its Green Leader Initiative, which was made possible by a grant from the Henry Schein Cares Foundation.

AADOM created the award as part of its Green Leader Initiative, which was made possible by a grant from the Henry Schein Cares Foundation (HSCF). The initiative aims to empower practice managers to lead their teams in becoming part of dentistry's green future by teaching them about easy-to-implement strategies that reduce their practices' environmental footprint while achieving greater financial success.

"Thank you so much to both the AADOM and the Henry Schein Cares Foundation for this incredible honor, and for creating an award that recognizes the importance of sustainability within dental practices," Ms. Eaches said. "The Surf City Dental team places great importance on reducing our carbon footprint and fostering an environmentally friendly atmosphere, and we hope that this award inspires other dental practices to join us as we work toward a cleaner, greener future."

Ms. Eaches, an AADOM member, was selected for her initiative and commitment to adopt greener practices in her dental office. During the construction of Surf City Dental's new 5,200 square-foot building, Ms. Eaches prioritized keeping the carbon footprint at a minimum through the addition of rain chains to collect rainwater for reuse, the use of eco-friendly interior designs?including finishes and paints free of volatile organic compounds, and the addition of windows that allow more natural light?and the replacement of paper towels with hand towels.

"We at AADOM are so appreciative of the incredible continued support of HSCF of this initiative and in the empowerment and recognition of our members in their green endeavors," said Heather Colicchio, Founder and President, AADOM. "I am so happy for Ruby to be recognized for all of her efforts and I am confident she will set an example for so many other dental practice leaders."

AADOM is the nation's largest educational and networking association dedicated to serving dental practice management professionals. Its mission is to provide its members with networking, resources and education to help them achieve the highest level of professional development.

"The Henry Schein Cares Foundation is pleased to join AADOM in presenting Ms. Eaches with the Green Leader Award in recognition of her efforts to create a more environmentally friendly and efficient practice," said Jennifer Kim Field, Executive Director, Henry Schein Cares Foundation. "Dental office managers play a crucial role in creating environments in which patients feel respected and oral health professionals can deliver quality care, and we hope that this award inspires Ms. Eaches' colleagues to follow her example."
