Real-estate investment worth more than $100 million on Nuns' Island - Launch of Symphonia POP, an inspired and unique architectural design

MONTRÉAL, Oct. 24, 2017 /CNW Telbec/ - Développements Symphonia today launched a new, high-end real-estate project on Nuns' Island valued at more than $100 million. Symphonia POP is a condominium building featuring stunning modular architecture, an inspired design, and spectacular views?that can never be obstructed?of the St. Lawrence River, Mount Royal and the city.

The official inauguration of the sales office for the Symphonia Pop condominiums and penthouses was held with Jean-François Parenteau, Mayor of the borough of Verdun, Kevin Robinson, General Manager of Développements Symphonia, and Roch Cayouette, architect and Partner at Provencher_Roy, in attendance.

Symphonia POP will offer 240 units of 600 to 3,000 square feet in area, some with two floors, featuring one to four bedrooms and highly refined decor. Built on the southern tip of Nuns' Island, near Symphonia 1, the 32-storey tower will be completed in the fall of 2020, after the construction of the new Champlain Bridge and the redesigned Turcot Interchange.

"The panoramic view of downtown will be breathtaking," said Mr. Robinson. "The nearby Golf Île-des-Soeurs and its academy, as well as Lac des Battures and numerous pedestrian and bike paths will offer a wide-range of options for outdoors enthusiasts."

To present a project fully aligned with its vision, the developer teamed up with Provencher_Roy, a Québec firm that has won many awards for its achievements, including renovation of the classy Ritz-Carlton hotel in Montreal, the stylish modernization of the Casino de Montréal, and the new Champlain Bridge, which will be officially opened in December 2018.

"The concept is rooted in the site's two distinct vistas: on the city side, an urban scene, and on the other, a breathtaking panoramic view of the St. Lawrence River, the South Shore and the Lachine Rapids." said Mr. Cayouette. "The southwest side, between green and blue, replicates the curve of the river, as with the first tower. Jutting out horizontally on the north side are superimposed cubes, called 'pops,' which reflect the outline of the city's high-rises."

CONCEPT

Symphonia POP, being built in a sought-after area of Nuns' Island, offers stunning views of the immense St. Lawrence from all its units. On the city side, a textured façade, dotted with the superimposed cubes, gives the building its singular character. These famous "pops" are the result of a thorough modelling of the structure aimed at bringing as much light as possible into each of the units and maximizing the view from the spectacular balconies and terraces. They provide a truly thrilling feeling of having reached the desired destination: the summit.

This modern and luminous visual signature gives full meaning to the expression "l'Île, avec style / The isle, with style," which was at the heart of the design concept. Between art and architecture, the innovative design of Symphonia POP sets the tone and signals the revitalization of Nuns' Island.

HIGHLIGHTS

NUNS' ISLAND IN 2020
When Symphonia POP welcomes its first occupants in 2020, Nuns' Island will be transformed by its increasingly green natural setting and eco-friendly golf course. It will also be more accessible thanks to its improved road access, including the new Champlain Bridge and a public transit service enhanced by the presence of a REM light-rail station. With an ever-increasing number of neighbourhood restaurants and shops, it will also be livelier while remaining a peaceful oasis.
