JAWKU Speed changes the game for athletic training devices and wearable tech

CARLSBAD, Calif., Oct. 19, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- With the JAWKU Speed hitting the market, the stopwatch is now obsolete. Combining the latest in wearable technology with an unsurpassed tracking and timing app, JAWKU provides a superior, one of a kind product that promises to enhance the training experience for every serious athlete. As easy to use as a stopwatch, and as accurate as a professional timing system, the JAWKU Speed puts the power in the hands of the athlete.

The JAWKU Speed system is comprised of a wearable speed sensor and wristband that syncs wirelessly with your iOS device. The two work together to measure sprint speed, agility and reaction time off the blocks. The user simply selects their desired distance via the app, sets up the smartphone at the "finish line" using the JAWKU tripod and is ready to go.  Additional features in the app include history tracking, reaction time assessments and newly added training content from STACK, the leading training authority for high school, college, and amateur athletes.

JAWKU was developed by college football player and Cornell grad, John Wells who now serves as the CEO and helms the development, operations, and vision for the brand.  "I knew there was a need in the marketplace because this was a product that I needed as an athlete," explains Wells. "There was a serious lack of access to a tool that could track speed, agility and reaction time accurately, especially when my coach wasn't available.  Instead of waiting, I got to work filling that gap."

The technology grew from concept to development with the help of a professional engineering team and over 10,000 individual tests against everything from a basic stopwatch to professional timing systems. "Originally, it was just me, running sprints," says Wells. "When we needed more information, we reached out to everyone we knew. The device has been tested by track and field athletes, NFL athletes, college athletes, and runners; the result is a tool that is not only incredibly accurate but easy and fun to use."

"Right now we are focused on the JAWKU Speed, but we see the future as fairly limitless. However, accuracy is, and will remain, the number one focus for us," says Wells when asked about the future of the brand.  "We want JAWKU athletes to know they can trust us implicitly with their training."

Launched in 2017, JAWKU is an athletic technology company focused on developing the highest level of wearable technology for serious athletes.  The flagship product, JAWKU Speed, was designed with enhancing the training experience for high performance athletes as the primary focus.  The patented device is as easy to use as a stopwatch, and as accurate as a professional timing system.  This is not your parent's fitness tracker.
