E-J Electric Co. Completes Lighting on the New Rockaway Boardwalk in Queens, NY

NEW YORK, Oct. 18, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- E-J Electric Installation Co. (E-J Electric) is happy to announce it's completed the installation of LED lighting and power systems to the newly constructed New Rockaway Boardwalk in Queens, NY which was previously destroyed by Hurricane Sandy in 2012. The new 5.5-mile boardwalk officially opened to the public this past Memorial Day weekend.

The project presented considerable logistical challenges, due to the boardwalk's proximity to the beach and sand dunes, which can hinder accessibility and affect materials. E-J formulated creative solutions that required unique tooling and equipment. Spearheaded by a strategic partnership with Canadian manufacturer Sheridan Lighting Systems, the project was also one of the first in New York City to employ the newly developed "City Light" LED fixtures and to do so with rust-resistant aluminum poles.

E-J Electric's management team also had to account for the sensitive beach ecosystem, which is home to many species of animals with annual nesting patterns, particularly in the sand dunes. The E-J Electric team applied a comprehensive knowledge of local ecology to carefully plan, schedule and take necessary precautions to ensure the continued health of this robust ecosystem and ensure the project reached early completion before piping plover season.
