National Leader in Orthopedics Expands to Westchester County

NEW YORK, Oct. 18, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Hospital for Special Surgery, ranked No. 1 for orthopedics for the past eight years by U.S. News & World Report, today opened a 50,000 square foot state-of-the-art outpatient care center off I-287, between Rye and White Plains, NY.

HSS Westchester is the Hospital's most comprehensive regional care center to date.  Located at 1133 Westchester Avenue in White Plains, NY, the facility features 20 exam rooms, 3 x-rays, and an MRI (magnetic resonance image) suite. It also offers a full spectrum of rehabilitation services including aquatics and concussion therapy and sports performance services such as motion analysis, return to play testing and training.

"Our patients come from more than 100 countries and all 50 states because HSS is a 'one of a kind' healthcare organization," said Louis A. Shapiro, CEO and president of HSS. "HSS Westchester now makes that world-class quality of care more convenient to our neighbors in Westchester County and surrounding areas."

25 physicians will see patients on-site with the support of approximately 20 employees, with the number expected to grow by year's end.  Specialties include adult reconstruction and joint replacement, foot and ankle, pediatric orthopedics, physiatry, sports medicine (both primary care and surgical) and rheumatology.

Located on the Upper East Side, the main campus at HSS currently treats a large patient population from Westchester County.

The high quality care at HSS has been achieved partly through many years of treating the most challenging conditions from some of the most demanding patients, including athletes from more than 80 professional teams. HSS doctors and therapists have the distinction of being the team physicians and athletic trainers for some of the most recognized professional sports teams and organizations including the Brooklyn Nets, the New York Knicks, Westchester Knicks, the New York Giants, the New York Mets, the New York Rangers, the New York Red Bulls, UFC, USA Basketball and the FIFA Medical Centre of Excellence among many others.

"I'm excited for the opportunity to see patients in their local community," said Andrew Pearle, MD, sports medicine surgeon and new medical director at HSS Westchester, who also lives in Rye. "This location is the biggest we've built to-date outside of Manhattan, and features an outstanding sports rehabilitation department not only for patients who will be rehabbing post-surgery but also for athletes and weekend warriors wanting to perfect their performance."

In addition to the main campus in Manhattan, HSS also has offices on Long Island, in Queens as well as in Paramus, New Jersey and Stamford, Conn.
