National Alliance of Wound Care and Ostomy® Introduces Nutrition Wound Care Certification


ST. JOSEPH, Mich., Oct. 5, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- National Alliance of Wound Care and Ostomy® (NAWCO®) announced today, the launch of a new credential, NWCCtm (Nutrition Wound Care Certified). NWCCtm is a specialized certification for the Registered Dietitian (RD)/Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) involved in wound care. The Nutrition Wound Care Certified RD/RDN is a key team member of the wound care team who understands both the underlying causes of wounds and how to support the patient with timely Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) to optimize wound healing.

NWCCtm certification validates the knowledge of candidates who meet the eligibility criteria and successfully pass the NWCCtm board certification exam. NWCCtm certification was officially introduced today to all attendees of the Wild on Wounds? (WOW) National Wound Conference in Las Vegas, NV. NWCCtm certification will be available starting in January 2018.

National nutrition experts, Nancy Collins, PhD, RDN, LD, NWCC, FAND and Liz Friedrich, MPH, RDN, CSG, LDN, NWCC, FAND are among the first Registered Dietitian Nutritionists to achieve NWCCtm certification.
