Carlisle Interconnect Technologies Urges ADS-B Certification for All General Aviation Before Approaching 2020 Deadline

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla., Oct. 5, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Carlisle Interconnect Technologies (CarlisleIT), a division of Carlisle Companies (CSL), is working with General Aviation (GA) aircraft owners, operators, and Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facilities nationwide to comply with the upcoming Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) certification mandate ahead of the 2020 deadline.

The FAA estimates that there are still over 100,000 aircraft that have not reached full compliance with the ADS-B mandate, and the timeframe for completion is quickly closing. CarlisleIT understands why some choose to wait, and are able to assist as the window for completion grows smaller.

"There are many factors contributing to the slower than expected compliance rate of ADS-B," Martin Lee, Director of Sales, Carlisle Interconnect Technologies said. "Some GA operators feel they cannot find a cost-effective solution or that a possible alternative means of compliance such as GPS installations with associated control panels will be made available. Others believe they will not operate in the airspace where ADS-B is required. Another factor is lack of MRO hangar capacity, which will only shrink as many will wait until the last minute to become compliant."

One key advantage to early compliance is landing priority which can be given to those who have reached certification.

"The bottom line is that this will be enforced, and many GA operators may find themselves grounded or severely limited if certification is not achieved," Lee said.

Those needing to become compliant with the mandate can contact CarlisleIT to enlist one of its 70-plus engineers and FAA Designated Engineering Representatives, who will design, build, test and certify ADS-B solutions based on each unique upgrade requirements. To simplify the compliance process, CarlisleIT provides customized hardware and certification services packaged as partial or complete kits based on the aircraft type and need.  In addition, CarlisleIT can work with customers to find available MRO hangar space to expedite compliance.

CarlisleIT has over 70 years of history and experience with Avionics upgrades in the air transport, GA, business and regional jet markets.

CarlisleIT is exhibiting at the NBAA BACE 2017 next week. To learn how CarlisleIT can help you become ADS-B compliant, visit booth N3329 or click here.
