Significant introductions included the Audi Aicon, Audi Elaine and BMW Z4 concept vehicles, the world premiere of Porsche's 911 GT2 and BMW's 7 Series "40 Jahre Edition" celebrating its 40 Anniversary.

Audi unveiled two new autonomous concept vehicles ? Audi Aicon and Audi Elaine. The two vehicles featured, respectively, light-gray Alcantara and dark gray-and-white Alcantara. Audi used Alcantara extensively on the headliners, parcel shelves, door panels and seating profiles.  Both concepts represent state-of-the-art future vehicle technology.

BMW chose Frankfurt to celebrate the 40th anniversary of its flagship 7 Series with the introduction of the "40 Jahre Edition". For the car's world premiere, BMW dressed the vehicle's headliner in classic "Smoke White" Alcantara, which underlines the elegance and the luxury 100% Made in Italy. Only 200 "40 Jahre Edition" vehicles will be built. Of those, only 10 will be for sale in North America.

The BMW CONCEPT Z4, previously shown at this year's Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, heralds the return of BMW's popular sports car. The Z4 was painted in a bright copper-caramel and featured Alcantara material on door panels, dashboard and the steering wheel.

For the world-premiere showing of the latest Porsche 911 GT2 RS, Porsche chose to fit the entire interior of the high-performance car with a combination of black and red Alcantara and leather, a combination that matched contrasting red stitching and distinctive embroidery for visual impact. The car also featured a distinctive Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel and gear-shift.

At the Frankfurt show, Maserati made use of Alcantara for the introduction of its new Quattroporte Granlusso and Granlusso, most notably on headliners and sun visors. Also on display at IAA with Alcantara interior treatments were Maserati's Levante and Levante GranSport, Ghibli Gransport and Granturismo MC.
